More Silmarillion inspired work...

This time I decided to change my technique a bit, and ink the pencil sketch instead of watercolouring it directly. I hope you like it!

You can find an early sketch here.

"The sons of Fingolfin were Fingon, who was afterwards King of the Noldor in the north of the world, and Turgon, lord of Gondolin; their sister was Aredhel the White. She was younger in the years of the Eldar than her brothers; and when she was grown to full stature and beauty she was tall and strong, and loved much to ride and hunt in the forests. There she was often in company of the sons of Fëanor, her kin; but to none was her heart's love given. Ar-Feiniel she was called, the White Lady of the Noldor, for she was pale, though her hair was dark, and she was never arrayed but in silver and white."
"Of Eldamar". The Silmarillion. J.R.R. Tolkien

She looks like an energetic lady she was :) ...but also quite lonely.
A lovely pic. I really like her costume.
The landscape looks like a poster on the wall, somehow. Might be that the colour of the sky is a bit too intense...

Thanks a lot for your comment! I've always liked Aredhel's determination... :) And I'm glad you like her costume. I thought it must have been quite cold up there in Gondolin, that's why I opted for the nice warm clothes.
I see what you mean about the landscape. It's not as evident in the original one, but this is a photo, and though I tried to fix the colours as best as I could with Photoshop, it still looks a bit strange, you're right. How I wish I had a scaner...

:) I've always liked Aredhel, too, for being so strong and stubborn. She tried - and failed - but at least she didn't sit in Gondolin and complain about her fate. Brave, rash and a bit foolish - just like her father.

It wouldn't be too difficult to work more on the landscape in Photoshop. But then, I tend to overdo my drawings digitally, so it's probably better as it is. It's a really good pic anyway.

I just updated the drawing, making some colour corrections, and as you suggested, I made the sky lighter and less saturated. Thanks for making me want to improve!
